Human Rights Commission Seeks Award Nominees
Submitted by Jane B McWilliams on Mon, 12/02/2013 - 10:29pm
The Northfield Human Rights Award is an annual honor presented to a Northfield area individual, group, or organization that has contributed to the advancement of human rights. The award is presented during the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration in January of each year. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration will take place on Monday, January 20, 2014, 7:00 pm, St. Dominic’s Church. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this event.
The Northfield Human Rights Commission is actively soliciting nominations for the award. The committee seeks to find a balanced and diverse slate of nominees that contribute locally to the cause of human rights in a variety of ways. The Commission, which is ultimately responsible for choosing the award recipient, appreciates all nominations and will carefully evaluate each one.
Commission member Corinne Smith says they encourage citizens to submit names of potential candidates by December 9th, 2013. The form for this nomination can be obtained at City Hall Administration office, from the City’s Website http://www.ci.northfield.mn.us/Index.aspx?NID=109, or from Corinne Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org.
