Historical Skit in Central Park
We received the following email from Alice Thomas...
Dear neighbors,
As many of you know, I have been working with the America-in-Bloom project, specifically the criterion of Heritage. As part of that project, here is an invitation to a special reading/skit:
These Trees Shall Be My Books (a history of Central Park)
Tuesday, July 29th
Central Park, 5:30-5:45 (note that if you come late you may miss a significant portion)The 15 minute skit was written by Marie Gery about the history of Central Park based in large part on Paul Krause's documentary. Did you know that our earlier neighbors had to take their case through district court and then the MN Supreme Court in the 1940s to prevent the School District from cutting down the trees and converting Central Park into an athletic field? Come and get the whole story and others!
Below are our friends and neighbors who have agreed to participate in the skit reading thus far: Paul Krause, Miriam Hvistendahl, Patsy Dew, Sam Demas, Paul Hager, Steve Strand , Brendon Etter, Bill Woehrlin, and Charlie Black.
COME JOIN THE FUN!
