Mar 16 2009 3:48 pm

Architect Chris Butters will show examples of state of the art buildings and urban developments in Europe that have high social qualities and almost zero energy use or climate emissions, illustrating that sustainability is fully possible. He will also discuss deeper issues related to creating a sustainable world and developing countries.

An architect, consultant and designer of sustainable communities and buildings, Butters has worked in Europe, Scandinavia, Taiwan and Bhutan, where he spent a decade as a consultant architect for schools and hospitals. He is a published author, writing on issues of development as it relates to ecology and local culture. Butters is a course leader for "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development" at the International Summer School, University of Oslo, Norway, and an architect and consultant for GAIA Architects.

This event is held on the campus of St. Olaf College in Buntrock Commons in the Gold Ballrom on the top level.
