• Hold more efficient meetings
• Understand the intricacies of politics
• Resolve public conflicts
• Put your point powerfully to pusillanimous pettifoggers!

Join us at St. Olaf College, Holland Hall, Room 307, from 1 pm to 4pm, on March 14th.

We hope you can join us, and that you'll encourage your board, team, or work group to sign up to attend, as well. The afternoon will be informative, fun and challenging for all, from absolute novices to seasoned officials.

Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested!

Admission is FREE, but space is limited, so registration is required! To reserve your place, please RSVP to the facebook event or email lwvnorthfield@gmail.com by March 9th. Made possible in part by the support of the Department of Social Work and Family Studies at St. Olaf College.

I had a chance to preview this workshop...

I had a chance to preview this workshop, and encourage everyone who belongs to a committee, be it the city council or church trustees, to attend.

Sometimes we're put off by Robert's Rules, thinking they're too cumbersome and formal for their own good. In fact, agreeing to use these ordinary, simple rules is sort of like playing a game by the rules.

No one finds the rules for a good game of bridge cumbersome or formal and each player (tacitly?) agrees to abide them in order to play and, perhaps, win. With Robert's, each member of the group also agrees to abide by them, and everyone uses and abides by them in order to make clear decisions reflecting the best thinking and the majority agreement.

Jessica and Heather have designed a lively and practical program which will challenge while not intimidating us!  Save the date!
