Food Truck Tuesday an Overwhelming Success
Submitted by Jennifer Kluzak on Fri, 05/09/2014 - 9:13am
During the month of May, First United Church of Christ is hosting a variety of food trucks every Tuesday from 11:00a–1:00p at 300 Union St. in Northfield. The first "Food Truck Tuesday" on May 4, featuring Gastrotruck, was a huge success.
Thanks to beautiful weather and the power of social media and word-of-mouth, the turnout exceeded expectations. Gastrotruck, a gourmet food truck from Northeast Minneapolis, sold out its entire menu. The owners estimate they fed between 150 and 200 people. Bestsellers included the chicken wild rice burger and the pork belly hash.
In response to the great reaction on May 4, First UCC is hoping to have two food trucks each week for the rest of May. The lineup is as follows:
Tuesday May 13th - Maria's Taco Hut and Natedogs
Tuesday May 20th - Natedogs and Gastrotruck
Tuesday May 27th - Moral Omnivore and TBD
First UCC is excited to expand options for food and fun in Northfield. Food Truck Tuesday is not a fundraiser, nor does it financially benefit the church. If the momentum continues, organizers hope to host Food Truck Tuesday throughout the summer. Stay tuned for more info. Readers can find the latest updates on the Church's Facebook page or website.
