First United Church of Christ's Longest Night Service is Friday, Dec. 21
Submitted by Michael Garlitz on Tue, 12/18/2012 - 9:32am
On Friday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m., First United Church of Christ will again offer a Longest Night Service for our community. Such services are an acknowledgement that for some of us, it is hard to be joyful in this season of joy.
We can feel this way because we are grieving the loss of a loved one, because our lives just aren’t going the way we would like, or simply because we’re tired and need a chance to catch our breath.
We will gather to hear healing words, to pray, to be still and feel God’s loving presence, to light a candle if we choose, and to hear music of peace and calm. This service holds the promise of joy in the Savior’s birth amidst all that is not joyful. After the service, there will be a chance to visit for a while over refreshments for all who wish.
First United Church of Christ is at 300 Union St. in Northfield. For questions, please call the church at 507-645-7532. All are welcomed.
