Epic groundbreaking

Epic Enterprise, the local nonprofit that provides services to and work opportunities for area adults with disabilities, invites the public to a groundbreaking for its new facility Thursday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. The new building will be located at 430 Railway Street South in Dundas.

“We’re making this move because of the need for more space resulting from our growth, and owning the building ourselves will greatly minimize expenses,” says Linda Hibbard, Epic’s executive director (at right). Money saved by the move will be reinvested into Epic’s various services.

The new $1.5 million building will replace Epic’s current facility along Highway 3 that has housed the organization for 35 years. And at more than 10,000 square feet, the new location will provide much more space for Epic’s 36 employees and nearly 90 clients. Added classroom space will especially benefit “life enrichment” classes, including art and music.

The new location, featuring improved accessibility and safety for people with physical disabilities, also will have improved parking to accommodate the 17 vehicles Epic uses to transport its clients around Northfield and the area.
