Epic employee receives statewide award

Epic Enterprise's Heather Duban (at left) wins Minnesota Habilitation Coalition's Enrichment Focus Award

The Minnesota Habilitation Coalition recently named Heather Duban (at left in photo with award committee member Becky Girvan), a personal support assistant working with adults with developmental disabilities for Dundas-based Epic Enterprise, the recipient of this year's Enrichment Focus Award. The statewide award recognizes Duban's efforts to enrich Epic’s developmentally disabled clients, specifically those who are less active in Epic’s work program.

Duban, currently in her third year at Epic, was nominated for the award by several people, including colleague Leah Williams. “Heather truly cares for the individuals that Epic serves and wants the best for each one,” Williams wrote while highlighting a program started by Duban that allows Epic clients to plan and prepare meals together — an important lifelong skill for some clients. Williams also noted Duban’s important work with individual clients and her role in the weekly lunches — and subsequent social interaction — for Epic clients at the Northfield Senior Center.

Nonprofit Epic Enterprise provides services to and work opportunities for area adults with developmental disabilities. The Minnesota Habilitation Coalition is a network of organizations that provide employment and other services to people with disabilities.
