Dear Northfield Readers! Here is a special way to support early literacy advocacy in Northfield.

We are excited to announce that the Pearson Foundation is giving SMIF 25,000 children's books as part of their We Give Books campaign. As part of this grant award, we will participate in their "Read a Book, Give a Book" online campaign with a goal of having 25,000 books read from June 25 - August 1, 2012. Achieving this goal will put SMIF in a good position to apply for books next year, and it provides another resource to advance early literacy.
Today we're asking for your help in spreading the word to the children in your community, so they can begin reading these wonderful on-line books!
Children and parents/grandparents can register online and choose from hundreds of books to read for free.
Our goal is to read at least 1000 books for the Northfield ECI, here's how...
-- Follow this link to get started:
-- Click the orange SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN button.
-- From the pop-up, choose to SIGN UP (include Northfield in your user name: example Northfield.Katie to
credit Northfield) if you are visiting for the first time, or LOG IN if returning.
-- Once signed up, you can choose from thousands of books to read in different age ranges.
-- On the last page of the book, click on the orange GIVE A BOOK button under the book.
Each book will be counted towards our goal of having 25,000 books read.
The Northfield Public Library and the Northfield Early Childhood Coalition Initiative appreciates your help in this campaign, as well as your continued partnership centered on getting children ready to learn!
