Dancing People Company to perform at St. Olaf
Dancing People Company (DPC) will perform at St. Olaf College Friday, Feb. 13., at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wagner Bundgaard Studio in Dittmann Center. The performances, which are free and open to the public, will feature company member Sarah Goldberg ’08. The concert is part of a week-and-a-half-long residency by DPC in the St. Olaf College Dance Department. Besides teaching classes in the department, DPC artistic directors Robin Stiehm and Peggy Paver will be creating two new dance works that St. Olaf students will perform during the Companydance Spring Concert in May.
Founded by Robin Stiehm in Minneapolis in 1994, DPC gained a reputation as an innovative and cohesive modern dance company. In 2003 the group relocated to Ashland, Ore., where they developed a strong base of support. The company of four dancers performs in the Ashland area and tours nationally, with a current focus in the Pacific Northwest. DPC has a school and training program that adheres to the philosophy that dance is an accessible art form that illuminates the commonality of human experience and that dance is an important means of expressing our everyday lives.
St. Olaf College Associate Professor of Dance Heather Klopchin performed with the company during her last sabbatical.
