Carleton's Japanese Garden the Focus of Upcoming Celebration

The public is invited to attend a series of events aimed at celebrating the inauguration of the John Nason East Asian Fund, presented by the Carleton College Department of Art and Art History and the Asian Studies Program.
On Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m., Andrew Watsky, professor of art history at Princeton University will present "Re-shaping Tea Ceramics in Momoyama Japan" in Boliou Hall, room 104 (this room is handicapped accessible).
Friday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m., David Slawson, PhD, Japanese garden designer and designer of Carleton's renowned "Garden of Quiet Listening," will present "The Art of Evoking the Natural World in Japanese Style Gardens" in Boliou Hall, room 161.
The final event will feature an informal talk and tour of Carleton's award-winning Japanese garden, "Garden of Quiet Listening," located behind Watson Hall on the College campus, on Saturday, May 23 beginning at 10 a.m.
