Carleton Organist Lawrence Archbold to Perform in Recital

Lawrence Archbold, the Carleton College Enid and Henry Woodward College Organist, will perform in recital on Sunday, April 5 at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

Free and open to the public, Archbold’s performance concludes a two-part program on German Music of the Baroque and the Rococo, entitled “Program II: Music of the Late Baroque and the Rococo.” This concert, which is the 21st performance in Archbold’s continuing series “Exploring Organ Music,” will feature six works by Johann Sebastian Bach, plus rarely heard works from the 18th century by Kittel, Kellner, Krebs, Homilius and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

An acclaimed musician, Archbold is the co-editor of “French Organ Music: From the Revolution to Franck and Widor” (University of Rochester Press, 1995), along with several articles and essays concerning German Baroque and French Romantic organ music. He has also presented lectures at national meetings of the American Musicology Society and the American Guild of Organists, and has performed more than 100 organ recitals in his career. Archbold received the AB, MA and PhD degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
