Carleton Music Faculty to Present Recital

Carleton College music faculty members Mark Krusemeyer (recorders) and Janean Hall (harpsichord, portative organ, fortepiano), along with cellist Karen Madsen, will perform in recital on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Featuring compositions by Fontana, Dall'Abaco, J.S. Bach, Sammartini, Kraehmer and Buterne, this performance mso-bidi-font-family:Times"> is free and open to the public.

 

Krusemeyer is both apProfessor of mathematics and a senior lecturer in recorder at Carleton. He has made numerous transcriptions for recorder ensembles, with an emphasis on the music of Bach. He has studied with Sue Carduelis (formerly Susan Prior) and Steve Silverstein, and in workshop or master class settings with Paul Leenhouts, Michael Lynn, and Marion Verbruggen. Additionally, Krusemeyer has performed locally and in Calgary,Alberta, as part of the Trio d'Accord and with the Calgary Bach Festival Society. He received his PhD from the University of Utrect in the Netherlands.

 

Hall, in addition to being a lecturer in harpsichord and organ, also teaches at Waseca High School. In the past 13 years at Carleton, Hall has performed in various Bach festivals and orchestra concerts and taught harpsichord literature and workshops. Currently, she also plays in a Faculty Baroque Trio. She received her BS and BA in music and education from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska.
