Carleton Media and Elections Research Project Poster Presentation
On Wed., Nov. 19, 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Goodhue SuperLounge at Carleton College, posters will be presented by students who recently participated in a project led by Carleton professors Barbara Allen and Greg Marfleet, which took a critical look at the media's role in the recent elections.
Poster topics include:
- The ad campaign to Spanish language communities
- Who was the "real" celebrity, Obama or Palin?;
- How did news time for candidate-centered discourse (candidates in their own words) compare to 2000 and 2004?
- How does the presence, likelihood, proportion of horserace news coverage track with changes in state tracking poll figures?
- How did news change as the financial crisis transpired?
Please come join us and learn from what the students have learned about the media and election news coverage. And don't miss the snazzy red, white & blue cupcakes being served!
