ACTCurious about Northfield health issues? Want to hear from key local leaders?

Come to Carleton College's panel discussion Who is Northfield?: Issues in Health. This panel discussion will take place on Tuesday, February 24th at noon in Severance Great Hall. The event is free and open to all, and a complimentary buffet lunch will be served.

Participating panelists will discuss different aspects of health and healthcare within the Northfield community, including social work, community organizing, public health, socioeconomic inequality, cultural diversity, arts and medicine, mental health, and other issues from local perspectives.  Scheduled panelists include: Mary Crow, Vice President of Operations for the Northfield Hospital; Mary Ho, Director of Public Health for Rice County; Janet Muth, Project Coordinator for Rice County Growing Up Healthy; Sarah Shippy, Program Director for Omada Behavioral Health; and Jennifer Pelletier, music therapist.

The panel is part of the Carleton's ACT (Acting in the Community Together) Center's annual Civic Engagement Series.  These events explore different social justice themes each year and help to connect the Center's service work with larger national issues.  This year’s theme is “Society and Health: From Northfield to Nation,” and includes lectures, movie showings, and fundraisers.  There is a focus on health issues pertinent to everybody, not just pre-med students and doctors.  All with an interest in healthcare and wellness are encouraged to attend.
