Carleton to Host Panel Discussion on Fair Trade and the Global Food Economy

food truthA panel discussion on free trade products in the global market will take place Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gould Library Athenaeum at Carleton College. The panel features Lee Wallace, Director of Peace Coffee; Reginald Haslett-Marroquin, co-founder of Peace Coffee and executive director of Northfield’s Rural Enterprise Center; Erik Esse, Director of the Local Fair Trade Network; and Mike Hemesath, chair of the Carleton economics department and director of the Ethical Inquiry at Carleton (EthIC) program. Discussion will focus on how the current economy affects the fair trade market, and whether or not the economy should base itself on fair trade principles for ethical purposes. This event is sponsored by Food Truth and is free and open to the public.
