The Carleton College African Drum Ensembles will perform their annual fall concert on Tuesday, November 18 at 4 p.m. in the Sayles-Hill Great Space. The concert will feature performances by the 11-member African Drum Ensemble and a number of smaller Afro-Cuban ensembles, all under the direction of Carleton lecturer in percussion Jay Johnson. The event is free and open to the public.
The African Drum Ensemble will be performing songs from West Africa, including Ga/hu, Kinkah, Adawu and Agbiwu. The performance follows the ensemble’s joint concert with the Carleton Choir, which was held on Saturday, November 8.
