Underdog Productions is looking for ONE CONFIDENT MALE ACTOR/SOLOIST ABLE TO PLAY AGE 50 for the principal role of John Tyler in an exciting world premier historical musical comedy titled Tippecanoe and Tyler Too by W. Watts Biggers. The available audition slots are Monday, July 7, 6:30 -8:00 p.m. at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville. Auditioners should prepare a show tune. Monologue is optional. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an audition timeslot.
Tippecanoe and Tyler Too will play over two weekends at two different venues: the Northfield Arts Guild during the Defeat of Jesse James Days, September 4-6, and at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, September 12-14. Rehearsals begin July 21st and will be held in Northfield. Underdog Productions is a non-profit theater organization and all actors are volunteer.
Set in 1840, the fun, classic story revolves around the first modern presidential campaign for the election of our ninth President, William Henry Harrison, and the promotion (just 30 days after the inauguration) of John Tyler as our tenth President. The musical incorporates these historic events, surrounding them with dance, comedy and the tale of Walter Thompson, an advertising man. The history in the show is quite solid and fascinating.
