ArtSwirl Kicks-Off Tonight with a Big Party on Bridge Square -- Don't miss the fun!
Come celebrate summer in the city tonight at the ArtSwirl Kick-Off Party -- an evening jam-packed with family fun!
Wood sculptor Curtis Ingvoldstad will begin work on his specially-commissioned ArtSwirl creation from 4 to 7 p.m. You'll find him located on the east end of the Square, along Division Street. Tonight's also the night he unveils the subject of his sculpture -- you won't want to miss the surprise! Rumor has it that a special guest will be making an appearance, sometime between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
Beginning at 5:30, catch an exciting breakdancing performance by the Lost Boyz Crew. And did you hear about the "Edible Art Walk," a special cake walk sponsored by the Ole Cafe and featuring miniature versions of their delectable gourmet desserts?
From 6 to 8 p.m., six downtown businesses will be sponsoring art projects for kids, an opportunity to make six different one-of-a-kind creations which will then be displayed in store windows throughout the weekend.
And from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., there's a street dance featuring DyVersaCo, one of Minnesota's best-loved polka bands, performing a wide variety of music from polkas, waltzes, and schottisches to country, Cajun and 50s rock-n-roll. You may remember DyVersaCo from two years ago, when they performed to great acclaim during Vintage Band Festival.
Plus, there will be food and beverages sold by Sweet Pea's Toys & Treats, Tiny's Dogs All Day, and the Northfield Senior Center Popcorn Wagon.
All this and much more, tonight in historic downtown Northfield!
Note: In the unlikely event of rain, the kick-off party will be held at the Grand (rather than outside on Bridge Square).
