Acclaimed troubadour Jack Klatt returns to Northfield for a not-to-be-missed appearance with his full band, The Cat Swingers, on Friday, August 16 at 8 p.m. at J. Grundy’s Rueb-N-Stein’s “Upstairs Rueb.” This event is free and open to the public.
“Northfield audiences always packed the house when Jack comes to town as a solo artist – so I’m really pleased that this time he’s able to bring along his full band, The Cat Swingers,” says Jessica Paxton of KYMN Radio. “And the Upstairs Rueb is the perfect venue, with lots of room for dancing.”
Klatt, too, is particularly pleased to be able to bring along The Cat Swingers. “The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of travel,” says Klatt. “And we sure are excited to get to the Rueb! I do believe the fine folks of Northfield will enjoy what the whole band can do.”
In authentic troubadour tradition, Jack Klatt has traveled far and wide through the highways and bi-ways of America, Europe and Canada with his guitar always near by. Klatt has sang in countless barrooms, cafes, living rooms, theaters and street corners all over the world, entertaining folks with his boisterous finger-picking style and whiskey worn voice, continuing in the tradition of folks like Utah Phillips, Blind Willie MacTell and Towns Van Zandt.
In 2011, with his band The Cat Swingers, Klatt released a critically acclaimed collaborative album with a number of veteran Minnesota legends including Spider John Koerner, Dakota Dave Hull, Cornbread Harris and Charlie Parr. Titled "Mississippi Roll,” the album continues to garner praise all the way from California to the UK and has been featured on the BBC’s Radio Norfolk, Minnesota Public Radio's "Heartland Radio" and 89.3 The Current (as well as locally on KYMN Radio's "All-Wheel Drive").
Klatt's latest solo record, "Love Me Lonely," has also received significant critical acclaim. More information and song samples at www.jackklatt.com.
J. Grundy’s Rueb-N-Stein is located at 503 Division Street in downtown Northfield. The “Upstairs Rueb” is on the upper level of the venue. For more information, call (507) 645-6691 or visit online at www.ruebnstein.com.
