groundhog"Yes We Can defeat the groundhog!" That is the new rallying cry for Northfielders who are ready to repudiate the past and move forward into a brave new world of rodent-free seasonal determination.

Rice county's newest tradition lives on in the second annual "Defeat of Groundhog Day" celebration, Saturday, January 31 at the Upstairs Rueb 'n' Stein in downtown Northfield

"We fought the good fight last year, and we're fighting it again," said Doug Bratland, bass guitarist for Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders. "We will not have the length of our winter determined by a creature known as a whistle-pig!"

The Bratlanders call upon the proud people of Northfield to help them in their struggle as they take their annual stand against the meteorological marmot on the weekend preceding the controversial American holiday known as Groundhog Day.

You can show your support for the anti-groundhog cause—and enjoy an evening of rustic American rock & roll—at the Upstairs Rueb, 503 Division St. Music and merriment begin around 8:30 p.m.
