Sally Swenson was born April 23, 1927 in Minneapolis, daughter of Gerald and Pauline (Chittenden) Mason. Her first 7 years were spent in Minneapolis and then in New York City until 1941. Her family then moved to Alexandria, MN where she graduated from high school before entering the University of Minnesota and obtaining a degree in fashion merchandising.
