Robert Andrew Browne, age 67, of Northfield, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Northfield Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:00 am from the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with full military honors. Burial will be at the Stanton Cemetery on Friday, November 30th at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bierman Funeral Home and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Robert Andrew Browne was born November 5, 1945 in Springfield, MA son of Daniel and Lillian (White) Browne. He was raised in Enfield, CT where he spent his childhood and graduated from Enfield High School in 1965. Following school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1967. On December 2, 1967 he was united in marriage to Catherine Irene Hughes and they made their home in Enfield. Following his naval service Bob began working for American Tobacco in Enfield and in 1972 they moved to Northfield, MN with their 2 daughters.
In Northfield Bob worked first for Culligan and then DuFour Cleaners before beginning at Sheldahl, now Multec, in Northfield where he had worked for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Northfield Junior Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed taking road trips with Cathy and spending weekends in Duluth, was an avid New York Yankees fan, liked to cook on the grill outdoors, liked listening to music of the 1950’s, was especially proud of his Irish heritage, and loved to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Robert Browne is survived by daughters Robin Browne Anderson of Mankato, Kristen Browne of Northfield; granddaughters Nicholle and Cassidy Anderson of Mankato; sisters-in-law Marion Browne of Enfield, CT, Jan (Larry) Lemieux of Minneapolis, Sue (Randy) Burns of Omaha, NE, and Cindy (Tom) Young of Lakeville; as well as many nieces, nephew, and friends. He was preceded in death by wife Cathy, his parents, and brother Daniel.
Memorial donations can be made in Bob’s name to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield.
