Penny Yahnke

Penny Yahnke, age 53 of Lakeville, passed away on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 9th at the Main Street Moravian Church in Northfield with burial at the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7:00 pm Friday, June 8th at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Penny Jo Yahnke was born May 12, 1959 in Farmington, MN daughter of George and Fern (Juenke) Lord. She was raised in Northfield where she attended school and began working at Erickson’s Super Market which is now Econo Foods. Following graduation from Northfield High School she continued working at Erickson’s. On June 9, 1979 she was united to Robert Edward Yahnke of Northfield.

In 1981 Penny began at St. Olaf College in food service and worked in many different positions in food service at the college over the years. She had recently received recognition for over 30 years served at St. Olaf. Always one to stay busy she worked part time at L and M in Dundas as a bartender and at the Northfield Eagles with pull tabs. Over the years she and Bob enjoyed weekly outings to play bingo and had enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Florida, and Washington D.C.

Penny is survived by her children Joshua of Lakeville, Anna (Nate) Feder of North Mankato and grandson Robert Feder; mother Fern Lord of Northfield; sister Pam Almen of Dundas; brothers Del Phillips of Farmington, George Lord of Northfield, Jim Lord of Northfield. She was preceded in death by her father and husband Robert.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home.
