Northfield Writers: Live Poetry Fridays
The next two Fridays bring live poetry to venues around Northfield, with a reading by local poet Joanna Rawson and two readings from a new anthology featuring work by local poet Rob Hardy and St. Olaf alum Holly Hughes.
Beyond Forgetting: Friday, October 16, 4:00 pm, Viking Theater, St. Olaf & 7:00 pm, Northfield Retirement Community Chapel
Joanna Rawson: Friday, October 23, 7:30 pm, Monkey See, Monkey Read, Division Street
This Friday, October 16, there will be two readings from the new anthology Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose about Alzheimer's Disease (Kent State University Press). I'll be joining the book's editor, poet Holly Hughes (St. Olaf '77) for a reading at St. Olaf's Viking Theater at 4:00 pm, and Minneapolis poet Ethna McKiernan will be joining us for another reading at 7:00 pm at the Northfield Retirement Community Chapel. For more information about the book, check out the Beyond Forgetting website.
The following Friday evening, October 23, another award-winning local poet, Joanna Rawson, will be reading from her latest collection, Unrest (Graywolf Press), at Monkey See, Monkey Read on Division Street. The reading starts at 7:30 pm. Here's a sampling of the glowing press surrounding Rawson's latest collection, which has been described as "edgy social commentary that expertly blends nature with the chaos of human life."
"Whatever happened to City Pages reporter Josie Rawson? Poetry—and life," MinnPost (9/11/09)

Unrest is available at Monkey See, Monkey Read.
