Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Saturday 1 hour prior to Services.

Marlys Pauline Hohrman was born October 1, 1928 on the family farm near Dennison, MN, daughter of Ed and Arlin (Larson) Holt. Her first years were spent near Dennison and she began school in Dennison. Her family later moved to a farm near Eidsvold where Marlys finished grade school and then began Northfield High School. During 10th grade she became ill with rheumatic fever and her convalescence was a long process.

On June 12, 1952 she was united in marriage to Ralph Hohrman at Bethel Lutheran Church and they made their home on the Hohrman family farm. Here they were blessed with their two children, Rollo and Rosaland, and they grew crops and raised beef cows. On January 12, 1970 Ralph passed away following a lingering illness and with Rollo’s help Marlys continued farming.

Marlys enjoyed Bethel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Mary Circle and volunteered her time in the kitchen during special functions and funeral lunches. She also worked for ten years at the Mount Olivet Retreat Center near Lakeville as a kitchen assistant. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading the newspaper and books, was an avid Twins and Vikings fan, and entered flower arrangements and baked goods in the open class of the Dakota County Fair for many years. Marlys loved to visit with her family and friends and when people stopped by at the farm she always had coffee and cookies ready.

Marlys Hohrman is survived by son Rollo (Kathy) Hohrman of Northfield; daughter Rosaland (Jeff) Dykes of Rochester; brother Gene Holt of Northfield; sisters-in-law Florence Volkert of Dennison and Rose Hohrman of Owatonna ; brothers-in-law Clarence and Herbert Volkert of Northfield; and many nieces and nephews.
