Marie (Lilly) Moore, age 88, of Castle Rock, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the Long Term Care Center in Northfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 6:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 4:00pm until the hour of services. A private burial will take place at the Greenvale Cemetery in Castle Rock at a later date.
Marie Louise Quai, the daughter of Henry and Anne (Froelich) Quai was born on June 16, 1924 in (Grenoble) Grenovel, France. Marie attended school in France and during the war she and her family lived in Algiers, Algeria which was a French Colony. Marie came to the America with her mother after the war. She worked for the French Lease Land Agency in Washington for a short time. Later, her family moved to Minnesota and on February 2, 1948 she was united in marriage to James Moore.
After their marriage Marie and Jim lived in Northfield for two years before moving to Castle Rock. When the girls started school, Marie began working at the Castle Rock Post Office, where she became Postmaster for 36 years.
Marie loved traveling, dancing, reading spending time n the summer at their cabin and collecting cats. She loved animals.
Marie is survived by two daughters, LuAnn Groth of Cannon Falls and Mary Jo (Roger) Meyman of Northfield, three grandchildren, Jeremy Hussey, Whitney Meyman and William Meyman and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, James and her parents.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield.
