Karen Noreen Otte
Karen Otte, age 68, of Northfield, died on Friday, September 03, 2010 at the Reflections Suites of the Three Links Campus. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church in rural Randolph. Interment will take place at the Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Karen Noreen Otte was born July 24, 1942 in Minneapolis, daughter of Dorothy Jacobson. Her first three years were spent in Minneapolis and then on her grandparents farm near Bagley, MN where she began her education and stayed until she was 14. She then moved to St Paul to live with her mother and graduated from Wilson High School. Following school she began working as a waitress at Porky’s Drive In on University Avenue.
On December 7, 1961 she was united in marriage to David Cramer and they made their home in Shoreview and later in Bloomington. Karen was at first a stay at home Mom and later began working part time for her husband’s business, Bloomington Locksmith. In 1975 Karen began working for Northwest Airlines in the credit department and continued there for 25 years until her retirement in 2000.
On June 30, 1991 she was united in marriage to Melvin Otte in Faribault and they made their home in Northfield. In retirement Karen enjoyed the many cruises she and Mick took, their trips to Las Vegas, and she liked to dress up and go out for dinner. In her free time she liked crossword puzzles and loved the time spent with her grandchildren and family.
Karen Otte is survived by husband Melvin “Mick” Otte of Northfield; daughters Dawn Cramer of Minneapolis, Deanne Cramer of Shakopee, Darsi Grove of Lewisville, Texas, Shelly (Kevin) Bauer of Dundas, Kristine (Dick) Keeney of Inver Grove Heights; sons Rick Otte of St Paul, David (Sheila) Otte of Cottage Grove; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; uncle Don (Maureen) Jacobson of Galesburg, ND; sister-in-law Marlene (Bernie) Earley of Circle Pines; brothers-in-law Kenneth (Joyce) Cramer of Bloomington, Steve (Marcia) Cramer of Apple Valley and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
