Jack Miller, age 78 of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, December 04, 2012 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 8th at All Saints Episcopal Church in Northfield. Visitation will be Saturday at the Church beginning at 11:00 am until the time of Services.
John “Jack” R. Miller was born January 9, 1934 in Brainerd, MN, son of Homer and Alta (Cox) Miller. He was raised in Brainerd and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1951. During his youth he was very active with Golden Gloves as a boxer. In 1956 he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Hill Army Base in Lawton, OK. In 1954 he married Joan Streitz and they were later divorced. Following his Army Service he returned to Minnesota where he worked in the Twin Cities.
In 1976 Jack moved to Northfield where he has worked and lived ever since. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo and was an avid cribbage player. He loved fishing and spending time at his cabin on Leech Lake and for many years hunted in northern Minnesota. He enjoyed socializing with his friends and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He greatly appreciated his cribbage friends, U of M co-workers, staff at the Three Links Care Center, and Liz Truman and her family.
Jack Miller is survived by daughters Cheryl (Ron) Knapper of Becker, MN, Linda (Jim) Gleason of Northfield, and Anita (Marty) Finger of Northfield; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; grandson Colton Finger; and great grandson Boden Pudlick.
