Halloween Events 2009

Halloween is coming up on Saturday.  Now's the time to stock up on candy, carve that pumpkin, and plan your Halloween activities.  Or perhaps you'd rather celebrate El Día de los Muertes, in which case you'll want to check out this great page from Art.org. Meanwhile, here's some of what's going on around Northfield on Halloween:

The St. Olaf Volunteer Network Annual Kids Halloween Party, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 30, in the Sun and Gold Ballrooms in Buntrock Commons.  Stop by for cookie decorating, mini gold, arts and crafts, prizes, and more.

Kids are invited to the Haunted Library at the Northfield Public Library on Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  Admission is a donation to the food shelf or $2.  For more details, see this story on Pressville.

The Big Giants 4-H Club is hosting a Halloween Carnival at the Northfield Armory on Saturday, October 31, from 1 to 4 p.m.  There will be a bake sale, cake walk, fun games, and yummy treats.

The Northfield Skating School is hosting a Halloween Skate on Saturday, October 31, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the ice arena at 1280 Bollenbacher Dr. Come in a safe costume and enjoy Halloween on Ice.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. members of Carleton's Mortar Board chapter will be trick-or-treating for canned goods to benefit the Northfield Food Shelf.

As always, there will be trick-or-treating at the St. Olaf dorms, and at Musser dorm at Carleton.  Just don't come trick-or-treating at my house.  I'll be up at Orchestra Hall, rocking the suburbs with Ben Folds and the Minnesota Orchestra.
