Daryl Robinson, age 62, of Northfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4th. at 10:00 am at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. The Northfield Veterans Organization will provide full military honors following the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Friday from 8:30 am until the hour of the service.
Daryl James Robinson, the son of James Harry and Esther Emily (Stieg) Robinson was born on October 30, 1949 in Faribault. He grew up in Cannon Falls and graduated from the Cannon Falls High School in 1967. Daryl served in the Air Force from 1968 until 1972 as an aircraft technician in the United States and Germany.
After serving in the Air Force, Daryl attended Red Wing Technical College and graduated with a degree in HVAC. He worked for Joe’s Electric in Cannon Falls. On June 19, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sally Fredrickson of Northfield at the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. That same year Daryl joined the Northfield School District 659 as a custodian at Greenvale Elementary School serving for 35 years, 33 years as building head. He retired on December 30, 2011. He was a conscientious employee, always willing to help others.
Daryl and Sally lived in Northfield on Plum Street until 1998 when they moved to a rural home near Castle Rock. Daryl loved working around his place, gardening and building things. He had looked forward to his retirement and planned to travel. He was a gentle and kind man, always doing things for others. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends in this community.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Sally; sisters, Amelie (Robert) Hyams of Roseville and Karen (Simon) Pawlowski of McKinney, Texas; brother-in-law Timothy Edwards of Tomball, Texas and a sister-in-law, Edith (Verlin) Wirth of Apple Valley, nieces and nephews, Alena and Aaron Hyams and D.J. and Teri Edwards, Daniel (Toni) and Jack Fredrickson of Farmington. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delaine Edwards.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield.
