Funeral Services will be 11 am Saturday, May 10th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield with burial at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield and at the Church on Saturday 1 hour prior to Services.

DOROTHY GUSTAFSON

Dorothy Gustafson, age 91 of Northfield, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Family Services were held at the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Duluth on Monday, May 5th with burial in the Church Columbarium.

Dorothy Alice Gustafson was born January 24, 1917 in Duluth, daughter of Frederic and Emmeline (Meredith) Fuller. She was raised in Duluth, member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, graduated from Duluth Central High School, and then Duluth State Teachers College (now UMD) obtaining her teaching degree in English.

Michael Vogel, age 58 of Northfield, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 28, 2008 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral Services will be held 1pm Saturday, May 10th at the Northfield Evangelical Free Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services at the Church.

Michael Herbert Boris Vogel was born February 10, 1950 is San Sebastian, Spain, son of Wolfgang and Rotraut (Hoffman) Vogel. He began his life in Berlin, Germany and as a youth moved with his family to Vancouver, BC and 10 years later to the Bay area of California. Mike graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in 1969 and continued his education at Cal State Fullerton earning a BA in German language.

He was united in marriage to Theresa Vernie Henderson on May 9, 1981 in Palo Alto, CA and they made their home in Sunnyvale, CA. In 1998 they moved to Northfield when Mike became a security officer at the Turkey Store in Faribault.

Hazel Condon, age 89 of Arizona and formerly of Northfield, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Peoria, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday, April 4th at the Church of St Dominic in Northfield with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield and at the Church on Friday 1 hour prior to Services.

Hazel Janet Condon was born October 30, 1918 on the family farm in Dicky County, ND, one of ten children born to John and Betsey (Gudvangen) Nelson. She was baptized at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Forbes, ND. In 1923 her family moved to a farm in the Dennison, MN area, and 4 years after her father’s death in 1926, they moved to Northfield. Hazel began her education in Dennison and graduated from Northfield High School.

Dr. Glen Thompson, age 79 of Prospect Heights, Illinois and formerly of Stanton, MN passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 in Illinois. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 26th at the Stanton United Methodist Church with burial at the Stanton Cemetery with military honors by the Northfield Memorial Squad. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7:00pm at the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield and at the Church on Saturday 1 hour prior to the Service.

Glen was born to John and Marion (Robbins) Thompson in rural Stanton, MN on August 18, 1928.  He grew up on his parent’s farm, attended country school and Northfield High School (class of '45).  He joined the Navy in the closing months of WWII and was trained as an electronics specialist at the Great Lakes Naval Academy. He attended college and received the following degrees, all with high distinctions: BA, Carleton College, '51, MA, UM, '53, and PhD, UM, '65.

Adeline Westhoff, age 91 of Northfield, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Northfield Care Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, January 25th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield with burial at Elmhurst Cemetery in St Paul. Visitation will be 4-8:00 pm Thursday at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Friday 1 hour prior to Services.


Faye Malmberg

Faye Joann (Johnson) Malmberg, age 84 years, of Northfield, died on December 6, 2007 at the Northfield Long Term Care Center.

Faye Joann Johnson, the only child of Orville and Ida Mae (Hanson) Johnson was born on October 16, 1923 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Faye was raised and graduated from La Crosse High School. She then attended nursing school, and received her RN from Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She met and married Bertel Malmberg in 1947 in Chicago. In 1957 they moved to the San Francisco Bay area. Faye Joann worked at the O’Connor Hospital and Stanford Hospital. Faye enjoyed creating and designing Norweigan Folk Art. She left California in 1997 for Northfield, where she lived until her death after a short illness.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Prill or Northfield, and Sonja Faye Finnay of Sacramento, Cal.; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Prill of Northfield Kristofer Prill of Missoula Montana, Lucas, Laura, Nadia and Nicholas Finnay all of California.
