Germaine Bruesehoff, age 96 of Northfield, passed away Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010, at the Three Links Care Center.

Edwin Budin
Edwin Joseph Budin was born August 13, 1924, on the farm in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to Thomas and Bessie (Simon) Budin. He was baptized at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Vesili, confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, and attended Wheatland Country School, IC School in Lonsdale and Northfield schools. After his education he farmed with his father on the farm in Greenvale Township that they had moved to in 1937. In May 1945, he joined the US Army - serving in Italy.
DuWayne Zimmerman
DuWayne Edward Zimmerman was born August 26, 1937, on the family farm at Dennison, Minnesota, to William and Julia (Sandvik) Zimmerman. He attended school in Dennison and Northfield and was confirmed at the Northfield Moravin Church. After his education he worked as a farmhand for area farmers. He married Viola Sprute on June 1, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Farmington. After marriage they lived in various area communities and DuWayne farmed with Richard Koester for 20 years. Wilbert Joseph Eckardt
Wilbert Joseph Eckardt of Northfield, Minnesota passed away February 19th at the age of 93 in the company of long time family friend, Marilyn Will.
Wib was born January 1st, 1917 in Greencastle, Indiana, the son of Lisgar and Ethel (Wilson) Eckardt. He attended public schools in Greencastle and in Belchertown, Massachusetts, before graduating from Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, New Jersey, in 1934. He went on to graduate from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, in 1938. He married Jane (Brown) Eckardt in 1939.
Maxine Hubbard
Maxine Harriet Hubbard was born April 7, 1925, on a farm owned by Mr. Pye in Northfield Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to John and Mary (Riddle) Marshall. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church and graduated from Northfield High School in 1943. She married James C. Hubbard on November 29, 1943, at her parent’s home in Northfield. After marriage she lived in Austin and worked at the First National Bank. In 1944, she moved to Bremerton, Washington, while Jim served in the US Navy.
Carol Boich
Carol Ann Boich entered her new home in heaven on February 21, 2010 at the age of 78. She was born September 8, 1931, in Peoria, Illinois, to Ernest and Vera (Binkele) Klaus.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel at Northfield Care Center where Carol had been a resident for the past year. Her Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Caston, her son-in-law, officiating. There will be a private burial at a later date at Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis.
David Markey
David Michael Markey was born December 25, 1968, in Alpena, Michigan, to Alfred and Mary Lou (Lince) Markey. He was baptized and attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He attended Alpena High School and after his education began working heavy construction. He married Pam Broers on September 22, 1993, in Alpena, and together had two sons. They later divorced. David lived in various communities in Michigan until moving to Northfield in 2003. He had been working as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Local #49.
Merlin Steele
Funeral services for Merlin W. Steele of Albert Lea, MN, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Pastor Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.
Merlin died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. He was 88 years of age.
Merlin was born March 24, 1921 near Conger, MN, the son of George and Sadie (Toenges) Steele. He graduated high school in Alden, MN. On June 1, 1945 he was united in marriage to Lois Nelson in Alden, MN. Merlin served his country in the United States Marine Corp attaining the rank of Master Sgt.
John Hertogs
John Edward Hertogs was born July 26, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Clarence and Helen (Quist) Hertogs. He graduated from Washburn High School in 1949 and on August 1, 1950, joined the US Marine Corps. He served in Korea, and following his honorable discharge on February 15, 1952, returned to Minneapolis. John married Marilyn Louise Conant on June 6, 1953, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In 1962, his work took them to Toronto, Ontario, where they raised their family.

Lois Geist, age 84 of Northfield, formerly of Knife River, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2010, at her home in Millstream Commons.

Nona Elaine Torseth, age 81 of Northfield, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away Monday morning, February 15, 2010, at the Reflections~Care Suites on the Three Links Campus.

Ralph Larsen
Ralph James Larsen was born March 23, 1951, in Cloquet, Minnesota, to Irving and Helen (Johnson) Larsen. He graduated form Cloquet High School in 1969 and attended Duluth VoTech. He married Carol Atwood on December 16, 1972, in Cloquet. After marriage they lived in Cloquet/Carlton area, and Ralph worked for PreFab Transit. In 1989, they moved to Randolph and shortly after Ralph went to work for Taylor Truck Lines. In the late 1990's, he went to work for Admiral Merchants Motor Freight.
